Curriculum
We offer a student centred curriculum. This means that we take a ‘working with’ approach, and construct a programme of study based on the interests of the young person, with a view to reaching the most appropriate positive destination when each young person moves on from LAMP.
There is no typical school day, as each students’ timetable is based around their own needs, and the Guided Learning Hours of the courses they have chosen.

Aerial Skills
Aerial provides a brilliant outlet to help our young people with their physical and mental well-being. Aerial involves performing various movements and exercises using a silks, a trapeze or a hoop, all suspended from the ceiling. It's brilliant exercise for improving strength and coordination, and has provided a fun and supportive space for our students to be social with their peers. Some of our students have found that achieving success in aerial has helped to boost their confidence and self-esteem that carries into other aspects of their lives.
Aerial is delivered by Flo, who has years of experience, and who makes sure every session is safe and appropriate for those who attend. Moves that seem intimidating at first, become easy as Flo helps students to break these moves into smaller, easy to process chunks.

Dungeons & Dragons
Playing Dungeons & Dragons is a great way for autistic young people to develop social skills and improve communication. In this game, players work together to solve puzzles, battle monsters, and complete quests, all while using their imagination and creativity. By playing Dungeons & Dragons, our students can practice working as a team, communicating with their peers, and building positive relationships.

In addition to developing social skills, playing Dungeons & Dragons can also help build self-confidence and self-esteem. This game is all about using your unique abilities and talents to overcome challenges. By participating, our students can build a sense of pride and accomplishment that can carry over into other areas of their lives.

D&D is delivered by Zoe, who is passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for our students. As always, LAMP’s goal is to provide a fun and engaging experience that promotes learning and growth, while also fostering a sense of community and belonging.
This subject is a great way for young people with autism to explore their interests, make new friends, and build valuable life skills.
