Debates: Big Topics, Big Thinking

Every Thursday lunchtime at LAMP, students and staff gather for something a little different—spirited, thought-provoking debate. Our Social Debating Society is an informal space where everyone is welcome to bring their lunch and their opinions, with no need to follow strict debating formats.

Each week, we dive into bold and often challenging topics. Recent debates have explored how prison sentences are determined, the societal value of gambling, and the potential impact of AI and robotics on humanity. Discussions are always lively, insightful, and respectful—no small achievement considering the emotive nature of some topics.

Credit must go to our students for approaching each session with open minds, strong arguments, and a genuine willingness to listen. It’s a testament to
the maturity and curiosity of our learners that they consistently foster such a constructive environment.
If you’re interested in joining the conversation, just let Sharon know. All viewpoints welcome—just bring your lunch and your voice! -Rob
