The gaboon viper (Bitis Gabonica) is a highly venomous species of snake. It is found in the rainforests and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. As the largest of its genus Bitis, its fangs can grow up to 5.1cm long – the longest of any venomous snake. Matching the size of its fangs, the gaboon viper has the highest venom yield found in snakes. They’re typically sized at around 4 to 5 feet long.

Despite their highly dangerous nature, gaboon vipers are placid animals. Perhaps because they are so self-assured in their own threat, they rarely bite unless heavily provoked.

I have 3D printed a skull of a gaboon viper. A skull was scanned with a 3D software and smoothed to make it more suitable for printing.  They have two pairs or razor sharp teeth that latch onto its prey and prevent it escaping. Their fangs rest just alongside the upper rows of teeth.

I have also drawn a Gaboon viper. Some small stickers and badges are being sold with it, see if you can find any! - Elliot
